What is a GiSTEQ™ PhotoTrackr™?

 

- It's a GPS photo tracking solution that integrates digital photo with location information for online digital mapping and photo sharing. It also provides trip recording and playback function.

 

How does the GPS PhotoTrackr interact with my digital camera?

 

- The approximate location of the photo can be calculated by time-stamp matching between GPS unit and photos.

 

Do I have to synchronize my camera time with the GPS unit before using the photo tracking function ?

 

- Yes. This step is very important. Make sure your camera time is synchronized with GPS unit before using the PhotoTrackr. (There is a feature on time synchronization in the software.)

 

Can I share photos online with my friends and families ?

 

- Yes. With the exclusive Flickr integration, you can share photos online with anyone anywhere.

 

Can I make a photo slideshow with the software?

 

- Yes. The program comes with an automated photo slideshow function.

 

Is there a monthly subscription fee for this GiSTEQ™ PhotoTrackr™?

 

- No. Once you purchase the GPS tracker unit, you can start using it without any additional fees.

 

Where should I put the GiSTEQ™ PhotoTrackr™?

 

- It can be placed pretty much anywhere, pockets, backpack, etc.; however, the satellite signal might be obstructed by tall buildings, and it might not work in an indoor environment. Please place the unit where it is appropriate.

 

Do I need a USB cable to retrieve the logging data?

 

- Yes. You will need to use the USB cable which is included in the package to retrieve the collected data. Bluetooth feature does not support data retrieving.

 

Will I lose all my data if I change my battery?

 

- No, all data will be stored in the device's flash memory. They won't be erased when you change your battery.

 

Is it compatible with my digital camera?

 

- Yes, this GiSTEQ™ PhotoTrackr™ is compatible with all digital cameras as long as you follow the sync-time instruction in the supplied software program.

 

Where can I use the GiSTEQ™ PhotoTrackr™?

 

- You can use it anywhere in the world. Certain area might not have detail map coverage.

 

How accurate is the GiSTEQ™ PhotoTrackr™?

 

- Usually the accuracy is within a few feet. But it depends on the time synchronization between your camera and the PhotoTrackr™.

 

How much data (trip records) can be saved into the device?

 

- The GiSTEQ™ PhotoTrackr™ can stored up to 3 to 4 weeks of data (trip route records) under normal usage.

 

Can I use it inside the building?

 

- The satellite signal will be significantly weaken when use indoor, thus it's not recommended.

 

What information will be shown along with the photos pinpointed on the map ?

 

- The program will show the date and time when the photo was taken. It will also show the coordinates, the approximate address of the photo, and its description.

 

How do I know if the GPS PhotoTrackr unit's storage memory is full?

 

- You can choose the Logger Settings inside the program and there is an indicator telling you exactly how much storage memory is being used.

 

How do I erase old log data in my phototrackr unit ?

 

- There is an option asking if you want to erase previous records when you retrieve log data from the unit.

 

Can I add waypoints during my trip recording ?

 

- Yes. You can tag a waypoint anytime you need by pressing the left button on the GPS phototrackr unit.

 

What operating system does it support ?

 

- It supports Windows XP, Windows Vista and Mac OSX.

 

Does the Phototrackr write the EXIF header of each image with the latitude, longitude, and altitude?

 

- The EXIF contains latitude, longitude as well as altitude information.

 

Will the software update the image's metadata to include geotags? Can I use other photo management software to manage my photos and use the provided software to tag my photos. 

 

- User will have the choice to either embed the GPS information into the EXIF tag of the pictures, or just save the information in our software to keep the picture as it is.  User will also be able to export the images with EXIF GPS information embedded, along with options to overlay GPS coordinates and date information in the picture.

 

Do I need to re-sync my camera with the GPS unit if I go to a different time zone?

 

- No, as long as you sync your camera with the GPS time, there is no need to re-adjust the camera time when you go to a different time zone. For example, you are in California and you are traveling to New York, you can sync your camera time with GPS time while you are still in California (in California timezone); when you are in New York, you don't need to adjust your camera time because it's already synchronized with the GPS time. (The time of the GPS unit is initialized based on the timezone of the synchronized computer.) So you only need to sync once and you can use it anywhere. **** With the newly added feature, the unit can announce the GPS time through the built-in speaker. So you can now sync your camera time without a laptop. (You can hear the GPS time by pressing and holding the left and middle button at the same time.
