1. If you sync your camera prior to your trip, then as long as you don't change your camera time during your trip, you will get the correct date and location info when you come back to your original timezone and download the photos and GPS data. .
Just to be sure: I will be travelling from Europe (UTC+1) to the USA (Las Vegas UTC-7).
At home I will get a fix for the DLP-700 and GPS time which will be UTC+approx 14secs.
My Nikon D300 has the ability to set time and time zone so the camera will be set at UTC+1 (Europe)
If I arrive in Vegas I will only change the
timezone of my D300 to the local zone which will be UTC-7.
The actual time on my camera will remain UNCHANGED. I will take photos which will have the actual local timestamp.
The logging on the DLP-700 will still take place based on GPS time+approx 14 secs.
When I get back I will change the
timezone on the D300 back to European time, which will have no impact to the photos or logs.
I will add the images in the Phototrackr software and will select the Las Vegas (UTC-7)
timezone.
The photos can then be matched with the GPS logs and the right location can be determined.
Is this correct? If so then I will only need to allign the timing once, before the trip!
