I followed your instructions to download tracks from my DPL900 and after boiling my socks in tarter sauce and pouring the concoction over the USB connection I managed to get it to work. The kicker was that you should only use one eye of newt. Unfortunately after that it stopped working again.
Any chance you can release a SIMPLE track download tool? Forget the photo management- there's a ton of Mac apps that can do that well. I imagine an app with two tabs: "Download" and "Settings".
Download just downloads the file to a user defined folder, defaulting to the current timestamp for a filename. GPX, NMEA or KML is fine (even just one format would be lovely). There's a checkbox to erase the device after copying.
Settings just has the GPS settings as in the normal app. Later you can add update firmware to this pane.
I'd be happy if this was just for the Mini DPL900 but if you want to include your other devices use the device names in a picklist rather than obscure (to users) references. Just "PhotoTrackr Mini" would be better than "GiSTEQ USB Dongle" + "usbserial".
Ideally give the user feedback as to what is happening and handle errors gracefully.
Finally, if there's a spec sheet for talking to the DPL900 it would speed up development for GPSBabel which is really what everyone wants.
As of this moment the Wintec WBT-201 is better supported on Mac and it's not even listed as Mac compatible. Please, please consider this request. PhotoTrackr Mac is not headed in the right direction and it's cluttered, broken and not useful at the moment. Keep it simple, no fancy graphics, just a plain jane simple interface that works well.
Thanks, Ed
