There are several ways to import photos into PhotoTrackr Mac program. You can import photos from cameras, memory cards, or iPhoto library. All imported photos will be copied into an album folder to ensure the original photos will not be modified for security purposes. Metadata(EXIF and IPTC data) of the original photo will be read while importing.
Importing photos from cameras
GiSTEQ PhotoTrackr enables user to import photos from digital cameras and flash card readers. PhotoTrackr supports photos in standard JPEG format. If you are shooting in RAW format, please upgrade your software to professional version for RAW support. Click here for more details.
Import photos from camera
- Create a new album, or open an existing album.
- Choose menu item under 'File'->' Import Photos'->'From Camera', or click button 'Import from Camera'.
- Select a connected camera or flash card reader, and then click button 'Continue' to download photo files into current album.
Importing photos from iPhoto
GiSTEQ PhotoTrackr Mac version enables user to import photos with comments and keywords from iPhoto library.
Import photos from iPhoto
- Create a new album, or open an existing album.
- Choose menu item 'File'->' Import Photos'->'From iPhoto Library', or click button 'Import from iPhoto' in Actions panel. PhotoTrackr will connect to iPhoto automatically.
- All iPhoto albums will appear on a list. Select an album you want to import, and click the button 'Continue' to import photos along with comments and keywords into the current album.
Working with Finder
Finder is the shell program of Mac OS and it's use for managing files or other resources on your Mac.
GiSTEQ PhotoTrackr allows user to import photo files from Finder, or export photo files to Finder by drag-and-drop, or copy-and-paste.
Import photos
Select the photos or the whole folder that contains photos you want to import in Finder window, then drag-and-drop them into Thumbnail view of GiSTEQ PhotoTrackr album window.
Export photos
Choose Thumbnail view in album window, select the photos that need be exported, drag and drop them into the destination folder in Finder Window.
Replace photo
Select a photo in Detail view, drag a new photo file from Finder and drop it into the Detail view to replace the old photo.
Using copy and paste, the photos can be transferred between PhotoTrackr album and Finder*, or can be exchanged between two different PhotoTrackr albums. So you can also use copy and paste to import photos.
* Because of the limitation of operating system, to copy or paste photo files between PhotoTrackr album and Finder is not supported on Mac OS X 10.3 .
Working with other applications
GiSTEQ PhotoTrackr enables user to open photo file with a given application by drag-and-drop.
For example, to open photo file by Photoshop, please select one or several photos in Thumbnail view, drag and drop them onto Photoshop application icon (or task button*).
In order to open the selected photo in other application, you can also try right-clicking the mouse button (or ctrl-click**) on the photo item in thumbnail view. Choose item Open with in context menu, and select an external application to open this photo.
** Ctrl-click is only available on Mac if right mouse button is not available.
