What's GiSTEQ PhotoTrackr?

GiSTEQ PhotoTrackr is a photo tracking solution that integrates digital photo with location information for online digital mapping and photo sharing. It also provides trip recording and playback function.



System requirements

GiSTEQ PhotoTrackr for Mac OS X
- Operating System: Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later
- CPU: PowerPC G4/G5 or Intel
- RAM: 512M or higher
- HDD: 1G or more free space
- Video: supports millions color display



Album storage

PhotoTrackr saves photos in albums and each album is packaged into one folder in on your computer hard drive. It contains the original digital photo files and the metadata saved in XML file. Each album folder has a .album extension (suffix) in its filename.

For the Mac OS X users, the album package is displayed as a document icon, which PhotoTrackr opens by double-click action in Finder file browsing window;


Create new album

There are two ways to create a new album
1) Start PhotoTrackr, choose menu item 'File'->'New Album', name the new album and set its location in the file system.
2) Start Finder, create a new folder with postfix '.album' in any Finder window.


Convert folder to album

There are two ways to convert a folder to PhotoTrackr album
1) Start PhotoTrackr, choose menu item 'File'->'Convert Folder to Album', select a folder contains photo files in the file system.
2) Start Finder, select the folder that need to be converted in any Finder window, add a postfix '.album' for this folder.



Album window layout

Once you open an album, the thumbnail view will be shown. On the upper right hand side, the tools are shown corresponding to its order from left to right: Delete, Rotate (Counter Clockwise), Rotate (Clockwise), Edit, and Extra Drawer.

Delete - move current selected photo(s) to the trash

Rotate (Counter Clockwise) - rotate current selected photo(s) counter clockwise

Rotate (Clockwise) - rotate current selected photo(s) clockwise

Edit - edit current selected photo(s) such as cropping, adjust color balance, auto enhance image, etc. Functions will be listed in the extra drawer.

Extra Drawer - an extra panel attached to the right side of the main album window.

On the main navigation menu, the buttons are shown corresponding to its order from left to right: Actions, Album, Thumbnail, Detail, Map

Actions page
Tools for all importing, creating, sharing and publishing, etc.

Album page
Show/modify the title, name and description for the current album.

Thumbnail page
Browse all photo thumbnails contained in the current album.

Detail page
Display current photo in full-view.
Press and hold left mouse button to apply the magnifier to observe picture details.

Map page
Display a map for tracking photos geographically.


Extra drawer

There are a couple properties panels in the extra drawer, such as Information panel, Notes panel and Calendar panel. Click the round button with ">>" icon in album main window to show or hide extra drawer.

Information panel
Show and edit photo properties, such as File Name, Camera Model, Aperture, Capture Date and Location.

Notes panel
Show and edit descriptions, keywords (tags) and stars for photos.

Calendar panel
Show a calendar interface helps user to review photos by date/time.

Geotag
Show the location of current photo on a map. You can also change photo location by setting it manually. If you want to import/manage GPS logs, you can click the "GPS Logs" button.

Edit panel
Tools for image cropping, adjusting, enhancing, effects, etc.


Action buttons

All importing, creating, sharing and publishing action buttons are arranged in the Actions page of the album window, the editing action buttons are available in the Edit panel of the extra drawer.

Basic operations

Navigate photos
- Click two arrow buttons on top-left corner of the album window, or press arrow keys (left-right or up-down keys) to switch current photo for display.



Select photos in Thumbnail view
- Click to select.
- Hold Command key (or Ctrl key) to select multiple photos.
- Hold Shift key and click two photo items to have a block selection.

Change photo display order
- Drag and drop selected photos to the new position in Thumbnail view.
- Choose menu items under 'Edit'->'Arrange Photos' to sort photo items by Capture Time or File Name.

Delete photos
- Select photos in Thumbnail view, or switch photo in Detail view.
- Choose menu item 'Edit'->'Move to Trash' (or 'Edit'->'Delete') to delete the selected photo items.

Slide show (full-screen)
- Choose menu item under 'Create And Share'->'Slide Show' to start full-screen presentation.
- Press Space bar, or double click mouse to switch presentation mode, Auto Play Mode or Manual Play Mode.
- Auto Play Mode: switch slides by timer control.
- Manual Play Mode: Press arrow keys or click mouse to switch next or back.
- Press Esc key to exit full-screen presentation.
